WACA Ground
One of Australia's most beloved cricket grounds has undergone an extraordinary transformation. The WACA Ground — the Western Australian Cricket Association's iconic East Perth home, steeped in over 130 years of sporting history — has emerged from a landmark $168.9 million renovation as a world-class, multi-purpose community and entertainment venue. Whether you're a cricket devotee, a family looking for a day out, or simply keen to explore something new in Perth, the WACA Ground is well worth the short stroll from Novotel Perth Langley.
A ground reborn
Funded as part of the landmark $1.7 billion Perth City Deal—a joint initiative between the Australian Government, the WA Government, and the City of Perth, in partnership with WA Cricket and Cricket Australia—the newly reimagined WACA Ground is far more than a cricket venue. It has been transformed into a vibrant, year-round destination for the whole community.
The centrepiece of the redevelopment is The Pavilion, a spectacular multi-level public building on the northern side of the ground. Managed by BlueFit, The Pavilion houses a fully equipped gymnasium, group fitness studios, wellness spaces, and the café Wirin—a name meaning "spirit" in Noongar, reflecting the ground's deep connection to Country. Indigenous cultural narrative has been woven throughout the design, honouring the Whadjuk Noongar people of the region.
